Renowned cancer researcher participates in New York City forum bringing together leaders in science, medicine, investment and innovation

NEW YORK, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Dr. Steven T. Rosen, scientific advisor to Cizzle Bio and a globally recognized leader in cancer research and translational medicine, joined distinguished cancer researchers from some of the nation’s foremost institutions on Oct. 6 for a panel discussion at the Global Cancer Research & Innovation Symposium (GCRIS), held at the New York Athletic Club in New York City.

Hosted by the Association for Value-Based Cancer Care (AVBCC), GCRIS brings together leaders from across cancer research, clinical medicine, biotechnology, investment and policy to examine how promising scientific discoveries can be accelerated from the laboratory through clinical development and ultimately into patient care. The meeting focuses on the full cancer-development lifecycle and the intersection of science, capital, technology, policy and commercialization.

“Meetings like GCRIS are important because meaningful advances in cancer care increasingly depend on collaboration across disciplines and institutions,” Rosen said. “We are seeing remarkable progress in our understanding of cancer biology and in our ability to translate that science into new approaches to detection and treatment. Cizzle Bio is applying that same translational focus to advance biomarker science that can help physicians identify cancer earlier and make more informed clinical decisions.”

Rosen serves as executive vice president and director emeritus of the Comprehensive Cancer Center and Beckman Research Institute at City of Hope, and as a professor in the Division of Lymphoma, Department of Hematology & Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation. A medical oncologist, hematologist and cancer researcher, he has spent more than four decades advancing cancer science, with expertise in hematologic malignancies, molecular and cellular oncology, experimental therapeutics and translational research.

At GCRIS, Rosen participated in Swim Across America Pioneers: “What We are Doing in Our Labs Today?” alongside Taha Merghoub, PhD, of Weill Cornell Medicine; Andrea Cercek, MD, of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center; and Dave Tuveson, MD, PhD, of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Cancer Center and the Lustgarten Foundation.

“Dr. Rosen brings exceptional scientific and clinical experience to Cizzle Bio,” said Bill Behnke, Founder and CEO of Cizzle Bio. “His participation at GCRIS reflects the caliber of scientific leadership helping guide our work as we advance CIZ1B into broader clinical use.”

Cizzle Bio’s CIZ1B Biomarker Blood Test for Lung Cancer is commercially available to licensed healthcare providers in Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio as part of the company’s phased national rollout strategy. Developed from 30 years of research at the University of York, the test is designed to complement standard-of-care lung cancer diagnostics by providing additional biomarker information to support clinical decision-making.

Recent peer-reviewed research further supports CIZ1B’s potential for earlier lung cancer detection and broader clinical laboratory use. Published Aug. 19 in The Journal of Applied Laboratory Medicine, the study reported 94% sensitivity and a 97% negative predictive value in the early-stage cohort (stage I or II).

Clinical validation studies are underway at Moffitt Cancer Center and other academic medical and National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers.

Cizzle Bio is also advancing additional biomarker candidates focused on earlier detection of other high-burden cancers.
