The kitchen and bathroom remodeler now finishes basements for homeowners in Bothell, Kirkland and Bellevue
Bothell, WA (PRUnderground) October 14th, 2026

Offcut Interiors, a Bothell-based leader in kitchen and bathroom remodeling with a 5.0-star Google rating from [42] reviews, has expanded into basement remodeling and finishing for homeowners in Bothell, Kirkland and Bellevue.
The new service turns unfinished basements into usable living space. Typical uses include:
• home offices
• guest suites
• gyms and media rooms
• where the city allows, an accessory dwelling unit
Offcut Interiors’ basement projects include:
• moisture control: vapor barriers and sump pump systems
• egress windows
• the permits and inspections
“A lot of Eastside homes have square footage sitting unused below the main floor,” said Hunter Trueax, owner of Offcut Interiors. “We’re bringing the same approach we use on kitchens and bathrooms to basements: a clear plan, a firm timeline and the owner involved from the first day to the last.”
A natural next step for a kitchen and bathroom remodeler
The expansion builds on the work Offcut Interiors does most. Basement projects often include a bathroom, a wet bar or a kitchenette. Kitchens and bathrooms are the projects the company has completed most, with more than 45 kitchens and 30 bathrooms to date.
“Most of what makes a basement work is what makes a kitchen or bathroom work: plumbing, moisture control and finishes that hold up,” Trueax said. “That’s what we do every day, so basements were a natural next step.”
What to plan for in a basement remodel
• The permit comes from your city. Bothell, Kirkland and Bellevue each run their own building departments; addresses in unincorporated King County go through King County. In Bothell, applications are filed online through MyBuildingPermit.com, and electrical permits are issued by the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries.
• A basement bedroom needs an escape opening. Washington’s residential code requires at least one emergency escape and rescue opening, such as an egress window, in basements and in every sleeping room.
• Moisture comes first. In the Pacific Northwest, a finished basement needs a plan for water before any drywall goes up.
• Timing matters in 2027. Washington’s 2024 building codes are set to take effect May 3, 2027. Under state law, a complete permit application is reviewed under the code in effect on the day it is submitted.
“The worst time to find out a basement needed a permit or an egress window is when the house goes on the market,” Trueax said. “We’d rather sort that out at the first walkthrough.”
Every Offcut Interiors project carries a completion-date guarantee: if the company misses the promised completion date, the homeowner gets up to 20% off the total project cost. [Confirm this version of the guarantee; /washington/ still also shows “$250 every day we’re late”.]
