Springfield, MO, October 26, 2026 —

Springfield City Council approved an amendment to a bill that would extend the permitted hours for marijuana dispensary drive-thru sales, moving the proposed closing time from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The proposal would require each store to obtain planning and zoning approval for a conditional use permit.

The summary of the council action does not identify which Springfield is involved, the date of the vote, the bill number or the amendment’s precise wording. It also does not specify whether the council’s approval completed the legislative process or whether additional action is required before the proposed hours could take effect.

Under the described proposal, the later hours would not automatically apply to every dispensary. Each store would need planning and zoning approval for a conditional use permit. No details were provided about the criteria officials would use to consider applications, how the approval process would work or whether any dispensary has applied.

The account does not include the council vote count, comments from council members, dispensary operators or residents, or information about the reasons for the proposed extension. It also does not say whether the bill would change any other rules governing dispensaries or their drive-thru sales.

As described, the amendment concerns a potential extension of drive-thru sale hours and a store-by-store approval requirement. The available information does not establish when the change might take effect or what next steps remain. The contractor’s name is not relevant to the proposal, and no additional implementation details were provided.
