Pentagon Announces Livestream of Fort Hood Shooter Nidal Malik Hasan’s Execution

Springfield, MO, October 8, 2026 — The Pentagon has announced plans to livestream the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, the former Army psychiatrist convicted in the 2009 Fort Hood shooting. The execution is scheduled to be carried out by firing squad at Fort Hood, Texas.

The decision to livestream the event was confirmed by officials at the Department of Defense. Nidal Malik Hasan was found guilty in 2013 of killing 13 people and wounding more than two dozen others in a shooting rampage at the Army base in Texas. He was sentenced to death following his conviction.

The specific details regarding the exact date and time of the execution have not been provided. The method of execution will be a firing squad, a procedure that has been utilized for military death row inmates. The decision to make the execution publicly viewable via livestream marks a significant step in how such proceedings are handled, aiming for transparency in the administration of justice for military personnel convicted of capital crimes.

Fort Hood, now known as Fort Cavazos, is the site where the deadly attack occurred. The massacre remains one of the deadliest non-combat incidents in U.S. Army history. Hasan, who represented himself during his trial, had expressed views that were sympathetic to extremist ideologies.

The Pentagon’s announcement did not include further commentary on the logistical or security measures surrounding the livestream. Information regarding public access to the stream or any limitations on who can view it was also not immediately available.

Further details are expected to be released as the execution date approaches. The legal proceedings and appeals process for Nidal Malik Hasan have been extensive since his sentencing.
